Our generation takes Sleep for granted. When you look back at the time when our parents and grandparents grew up was very systematic. Everyone had a well-prepared agenda. They all wake up at a fixed time, eat food at proper timing and get sufficient sleep, a minimum of 8 hours. If we stop and now look at our life cycle, we might understand that we do not follow this timing properly.
Selfcare- Sleep
We sleep late in the night. In fact, that is not even night anymore. Nearly 80 percent of the youngsters sleep way past their bedtime which is most probably morning when the elders in our house wake up. If you sleep late, you will wake up late and miss your breakfast and have direct lunch or as the gen x calls it brunch.
Morning breakfast is very important for our health. Sleeping for 6-8 hours is very crucial and ideally, it should be done during the night hours. Every part of your body is working non-stop. For example, it is not that you are sleeping and your heart sleeps as well. these organs all have their duty to be performed and these need some quiet time to execute it and rest a bit. When you are sleeping late, you are disrupting the cycle of these organs which is very bad for your health.
- Start sleeping at the same time, every single day.
- Have your dinner at least an hour before you go to bed.
When you follow this properly, every part of your body will work amicably. It will also help you have a good mental state, where you can be happier and stress-free.
If you have a short sleeping cycle, it can lead to obesity. So if you are someone who is trying to reduce your weight, watch your sleep cycle. Go to bed early and follow a routine. Sleep-deprived people tend to have more appetite which leads to the intake of more calories. On the other hand, if you have good sleeping hours then you have fewer calorie intake. Poor sleep will lead to heart disease and stroke and it indeed affects a person’s metabolism.
When you have slept properly and rested well, you tend to work with greatest efficiency and your productivity will also increase.
So, if you want to be happy, efficient and healthy. Sleep properly and sufficiently.
