Want to know Life-changing hacks for Working Moms? Some tips to make life easier? Read on to know more about how to manage time, organize the day, dinner plans and have more smiles and happiness during your day.

THE WORKING MOM LIFE

In today’s post I am going to share some great Life-saving hacks for working moms but these hacks can be used by any woman to manage their family and career. And yes, these are tried and tested hacks from me.

I am often asked, How do I manage all of it? A 9 hour job, 2 kids, household and a blog. Those who are new here, consider reading about me on my Instagram profile.

I have been working in a full-time role from the past 13 years with only 2 maternity breaks in between. The first one was for only 3 months and when my younger one was born due to govt policy the maternity leave was extended for 6 months. I started blogging around 3.5 years ago.

From all these years of experience I have, I can say, Working mom’s life is a choice I have made. Yes, it is crazy and it is at times very hard. There are a lot of hats to be worn at the same time and lots of taunts to be taken as well. But yes If I can do it, I am sure anyone can do it too. All you need is some help and some creativity.

Working Mom Life-Changing Hacks to make life easier and more fun

Re-using Leftovers

My basic instinct is survival. Sustenance!!

We all al left with some amount of food every meal. What I have learnt from my parents and even I believe is not to waste food. Hence,  I try utilizing every bit of edible items in the house.

  1. Use the leftover dal(Lentil gravy) for making paranthas in the morning.
  2. Using the vegetable leftover during lunch into making some cutlets in the evening.
  3. The sides of the break used as binding for creating various snacks.
  4. This one is my fav, once in a while take out whatever is there in the fridge cooked/uncooked veggies, dal and rice. Mix everything together and make it into a khichdi.

Make Everyone accountable

We moms are usually the “reminders”. We have to manage out to-do lists, our kids to-do lists and then there is a list constantly running through our heads of various errands.

What we do is have the important tasks, activities listed on our magnetic board. This makes everyone accountable.  So everyone remembers the errands or any appointment or practice class any assessments. Yes!! My little one is too young to read that but most of the members can read and help in remembering important tasks and dates.

Online order for Grocery

What is that one thing everyone wants?

Time!! How can you get some time? Learn it from big industries - They outsource. Outsourcing is like asking for help from friends or from some stranger or some lovely people who would buy the groceries for you and get it to your day.

We have not one, not two but 4 apps which we use for getting our grocery delivered.

Call us obsessed 😀 But these apps have been our savior in the time of CORONA Virus.

We have been using the online Amazon delivery for a long and milk basket has been our favorite in delivering grocery and dairy products fresh early morning.

Which one do you use?  Comment below ?

Ordering grocery online saves a great deal of time we spent while going weekend shopping earlier.

MAKING TIME FOR THE NON-NEGOTIABLES

What do you mean by Non-negotiables? Non-negotiables are things that you are definitely going to do on a day or in a week. This doesn’t need to be something too big but it is yours.

For me a non-negotiable is a walk after lunch or making sure to get some fresh air after a few hours at the work desk.

Your non-negotiable can be your alone time in the morning before everyone in the house wake up.

Whatever it is for you, make time for your non-negotiable to feel better, to feel your life.

TECHNOLOGY LIFE HACK

To save on time and be more present with my kids, I have put off all social media notification on my phone.

I have set specific times of the day when I can look into my social media accounts. Though I am quite late to realise this, I wasted a lot of my time scrolling through random posts on social media. I have kept my social media activity now limited to some time in the evenings . This has helped me stay more “present” with the kids and also helps in productivity.

Breakfast and Dinners Swap

On days when you don’t want to make elaborate dinner. Make a breakfast sort of meal.

  1. Some scrambled eggs with toasted bread.
  2. Some Vegetable Poha
  3. Some Upma with Coconut Chutney.
  4. Some Pancakes

Once in awhile this way we keep it simple and even then have some yummy food.

HOUSEHOLD DIVIDE & CONQUER

I am not a “Do it all” working mom and I have no hesitation in saying that because this is a truth. We, everyone at home, are a team. This team does it all.

We moms carry more household tasks’ load but it doesn’t have to be that way. Spli the tasks like caring for baby, feeding the kids and cleaning a 50-50 task and THANK ME LATER J

SUNDAY PLANNING FOR PRODUCTIVITY AND GOAL SETTING

A failure to plan is a plan to fail.

Benjamin Franklin

If you have been following me on Instagram for a while, you would know I plan my weekly meals on a Sunday evening. As a working mom, I have a lot of things to tackle during the week, and ideally, I should take Sunday as a break. But this mom doesn’t stop won’t stop!!

Taking out some time on Sunday to write down what is actually needed for the house, for my goals, for tasks listing for the week is a ritual I cannot miss. I utilize this time to breakdown all the task into priorities and smaller goals.

I love planning and keeping things kind of under control.

LET IT GO

This has to be my fav WORKING MOM LIFE-CHANGING HACK.

Figure out what is your “having it all” .Your idea of “All’ can be totally different from mine. And that is what you need to understand . Prioritize and it will be easier for you.

As mentioned in my earlier post, my house is not always shining clean and in perfect shape. Its not unhygienic and that is more important.

The sink is not cleared in the night always. The TV showcase is never clear because it has the stack of toys and books my girls love to play with each day.

But that is fine. I’ve let it go. Someday, my house will be all shiny and everything in place, but that day is not today.

Let it go is my best working mom hack.  My life may not look perfect from your angle but this is my life. It needs to look good and a happy space from my angle and that is what matters for me.

What else can you let go and use that time to get your sanity? Do let me know in comment section below.

I leave you with this best tip. Do mention in the comments below which hack do you swear by.

    Agree with your points.
We all need these time saving tips.
Now am walking to the nearest shop to buy grocery and vegetables. No more mall/superstore shopping for these. Haven’t tried online delivery of these essentials as yet.
